An Eight-Week Guided Journal

Take your ideas seriously before anyone else does.

Most ideas do not fade because they were bad. They fade in the first few seconds, when a quiet voice says it has probably been done already, or that it is not good enough to write down. The Ideas I Keep Quiet is an eight-week guided journal for giving those sparks a small, private place to exist before you decide whether they are worth anything.

Each day, you name one idea or spark that caught your attention, notice the fear sitting underneath it, and take one small, private step towards it. Nothing needs to be finished, launched or proved, and the smaller and more ordinary the idea, the better the practice tends to work. At the end of eight weeks you hold a written, ever-growing record of ideas taken seriously rather than silenced.

A day in the journal

Three short lines a day. This is how one page works.

Week 1, day 2 · an example entry

The Spark

A way to sort the family photographs by the stories behind them.

The Fear

That it is a silly thing to spend time on when nobody asked for it.

The Small Move

Tonight, I will write down three of the stories, just for myself.

An illustration written for this page. It is not a reader’s own entry.

What is inside

Eight weeks, eight kinds of idea

  • Week 1. A spark worth following
  • Week 2. An idea you keep comparing to someone else’s
  • Week 3. A small fix for something that annoys you
  • Week 4. A question nobody has answered for you yet
  • Week 5. An idea waiting for ‘the right time’
  • Week 6. An idea you have never told anyone
  • Week 7. An idea worth sharing with just one person
  • Week 8. Every spark still asking for your attention
  • A simple daily rhythm: The Spark, The Fear, The Small Move
  • 48 guided daily pages, six a week, so a missed day or two never affects anything beyond that week
  • A short, honest review at the end of every week
  • An overview of the whole practice, an idea tracker that shows where each idea stands, and a final review
  • Blank pages at the back for days that need more room

This is not about finishing anything in eight weeks. It is a small, repeatable practice of letting one spark exist before deciding whether to judge it.

Questions before you buy

Where can I buy it?

The hardcover is available now on Amazon and is printed to order. The paperback will be added to Amazon when it is ready. In India, the paperback is available now on Pothi, which ships within India only.

How long does each day take?

A few minutes. Every journal uses a simple, structured daily format that walks you through exactly what to fill in, so you do not need to know what to write or how to start.

What if I miss a day, or fall behind?

Each week stands entirely on its own, so missing a day or two never affects anything beyond that week. I Missed a Day. Now What? is a short read for exactly that moment.

Do I need any journalling experience?

No. Nothing here asks you to write well. One honest sentence is enough.

Can I try it first?

The example entry above shows exactly how one page works, and the Amazon listing lets you look inside before you buy. A free preview of the first pages will be added to this page soon.
